Musical Director

Huw Morgan

Huw Morgan was born in Newport and grew up near Abergavenny, where his parents had a bookshop. He studied music at the University of Oxford and conducting at the Royal Academy of Music, with Patrick Russill.

Huw now lives in Bristol, with his wife and two young daughters, where he conducts the Redland Green Choir and the Clifton Singers. His compositions have been performed at venues and festivals throughout Europe and North America and have appeared on many recordings, on Radio 3 and the Boring Music Show on Keith FM.

Huw is also a champion of other composers' work (the stranger, the better!), having given numerous first performances. He is a founder member of Automatronic, a collective that commissions and performs music for organ and electronics; and he gives regular experimental "mainly slow organ music" concerts in Bristol and beyond.

Huw likes, in no particular order or combination: cheese, photography, rugby (watching), walking and traveling.
